I must admit, I forgot about this little guy. But on the eve of the first day back to school, I feel like I need to officially close the Los Angeles chapter of my life...for now. ;)
My last day at E! was just like any other, but at the end I was presented with a handmade card signed by everyone and cupcakes! Now that I'm back in Waco and everyone is asking me "how was your internship?!" I can only think one thing - amazing! Yes, some days I hated it because I sat and stared at a computer all day, but the benefits and experiences that resulted from the internship itself were some that I would have otherwise never had. I learned so much and met so many great people. I am really one lucky girl. :) I always turn the radio up whenever "California Gurls" comes on, because I like to thing that was "my song" for the summer.
Before heading back to Dallas, my parents came and helped me pack up/clean my apartment. While we definitely had fun - DISNEYLAND! - we got some awful news while they were there. One of my oldest, and most unlikely, friends - Julie VanMeter - passed away after a cliff jumping accident by her lake house at Lake Whitney. After I moved in 10th grade of HS, Julie and I parted ways. We had known each other since I was in 1st grade, she was in 2nd, when she moved into the house behind they alley from me. I remember her and her sister Jennifer walking up to introduce themselves with their mom during one of our garage sales. An instand friendship was formed and we basically lived at each other's houses. But as we grew we made different friends and gained much different interests, and then when I moved I barely talked to her or Jennifer. We eventually became MySpace & Facebook friends and kept up with each other that way, but it wasn't until just last summer that we really reconnected. My mom and I went up to the restaurant she was working at and caught up with her. She and my mom talked a lot through FB since throughout the years, and my mom missed her and was worried about her so we went to see her. Then Julie spent Christmas with my family since her parents would be out of town. Pretty much my whole family already knew her since we grew up together, so it was like she was just one of our own. The news of her death really shook up not only my parents and I but my grandma, cousins, and the rest of my family. Julie was so loved and such a smart girl. I will always remember all of the fun times we had - she was definitely a huge part of my childhood. So miss Julie, I pray that you finally find peace...gone but never forgotten. <3
After a few days in Cali, I finally made it back to Dallas...and the HEAT...and got to spend time at home and a fabulous Cheetah Day full of shopping! Then I drove down to Waco this past Thursday and am...still unpacking. Hahaha. But I love my new house and of course my roomies Brittany, Kelsey and Lauren. I loved getting to see all of my friends and Thetas during Welcome Week! Now...I'm getting ready to start my JUNIOR YEAR. Where has the time gone?! I'm so excited to see what this year will bring. So far, it's off to a pretty good start! Farewell, summer 2010. You were definitely unlike any other. Hello fall semester! :)
