Hello all! Greetings from sunny Los Angeles! :)
Well, I've officially been here for one week. (Actually a week and one day.) It's definitely a change, but a nice change. The fact that my downstairs neighbors blast country music every morning kinda sorta makes it feel more like home, haha.
First, I'll start with the negatives of this adventure I'm on. NOT HAVING A CAR SUCKSSS. I have yet to give the Metro a try because I'm scared I'll mess up and end up in gang country. But I guess it couldn't be as bad as accidentally taking the NYC subway to the Bronx. That was scary. Also, I don't have a washing machine IN my apartment, so I'm going to have to go the apartment's laundromat like they do in the movies and sit there and wash my clothes spin around and around. Oh well, I hope to meet some interesting characters while doing so. My cousin told me that apparently Perez Hilton resides in my little apartment metropolis. And no creeper or anything, but from carefully deciphering Lacey Schwimmer's (SYTYCD/DWTS) tweets, I'm pretty sure she lives here, too. She always mentions going to places that are RIGHT BY ME. We'll see. I'm good at stalking.
Let's see. What else? Oh yeah, I guess I can talk about E! No Ryan sightings yet, but my cousin did tell me when and where I can catch him, haha! Everyone at E!, in my department at least, is so nice! I've been shadowing some producers and they've shown me the editing process and all that good stuff, and I even got to run the teleprompter one day! That was fun. If you want to see exactly what I do, go here: http://www.eonline.com/videos/index.jsp The very first row of videos is what my department is in charge of, and I've watched them film quite a few!
Basically what I do everyday is track E!'s competition site and e-mail the producers what stories they've covered. I also track all the celeb gossip sites and try to catch the juiciest news first and e-mail those stories to producers so they can make an E! News Now video for it as soon as possible, so that we can be the first on the scene. Sooo I'm pretty important. Haha jk. I also have my own little cubicle which is very profesh.
So what are the touristy things I've done here so far? Well while my dad was here, we walked the Walk of Fame (I'll post pics on Facebook soon), did the whole footprints-at-Grauman's thing, went to a museum where they had pieces of sets and costumes and stuff from movies, and ate at the Ivy with my fellow ENN intern Bianca and her mom, who just so happens to be a Theta! Biana I mean, not her mom, haha. :)
Mmmkay I'm going to have to get better at this, I'm already bored. But I figured I'd keep you guys updated.
OH WAIT. HOW COULD I FORGET?!?!? Sorry, my mind is tired but HOLY SMOKES I went to the taping of American Idol on Tuesday nights. Shucks that I didn't get tickets to Wednesday's show (the ACTUAL finale), but I cannot complain. IT WAS AWESOME. Watching AI since episode 1 season 1, it was SO SURREAL to be on the other side and see how it all actually goes down. I felt like I was on the set of a movie. In between commercials and before the show they have this guy that hypes up the audience and gives away shirts and stuff. Then they introduce the judges and of course Simon got the biggest amount of applause and screams. AND AND AND looking around, EVERY SINGLE POSTER was for my future husband Lee DeWyze. So great. So happy he won. But anywho, yeah it was insane being there IN PERSON. I got to watch it back on TV and I see what Simon always says...the performances sound way different in person than on TV. Oh well. Lee and Crystal are both so awesome. I seriously thought I was going to pee my pants when my cousin (who also works at E!) e-mailed me over E!'s little e-mail network thing and was like "when do you get off work? I got tickets for AI tonight". You DON'T EVEN KNOW. Ah. That's been the highlight of LA so far, for sure.
Monday, since it's Memorial Day and I don't have work, I'm hoping that Millenium Dance Complex is still open because Donyelle from SYTYCD season 2 teaches a class that I normally wouldn't be able to go to b/c of work, so I really want to go! We shall see...
But yes, like I was saying...forgive me if this is rambling and confusing and long...first time blogger here. I'll try to get better at my skillz.
Peace, love and SUNSHINE from the City of Angels
