I do not know if any one still reads this...but as a self-indulgence, I must admit I do enjoy criticizing SYTYCD. ;) So I shall keep on doing it for my own enjoyment. :)
Kent & Anya - Dumb that he got cha cha again...but I shall not complain becauseee it's KENT. I wish he would have got a different ballroom, though...this season has been lacking in b'room variety. Oh well. Fun fact: the clip they showed during rehearsal when he was walking into the audience? That was right before we had our moment. Annnnd ok what is this business about all the girls Kent is partnered with getting to kiss him? JEALOUSSS. Cute dance...his facials were killing me. It was like goofy sexy. I'm sorry, he's just so adorable I can't get over it. He definitely was dancing like a "man" this time so that's good. I agree with Mia about the "crunchy" statement.
Robert & Kathryn - Hmmm another going off to war piece. No Air, contemporary style? I'm sorry, but Kathryn should have won last season. She is amazing. And looks like Natalie Portman. NICE TWIST that SHE is the one going off to war. SURPRISE ENDINGGG. That piece had some really cool lifts. I am a big fan of Stacey Tookey. I mean, how cool of a last name is that? Nigel...last Wednesday you said Robert WASN'T growing, but now you say he is? From watching one dance? I'm so confused and over the politics of this show, but whatevs. Is it weird that now that I have experienced Mia teaching and kinda understand how she sees dance, conveyed through the way she taught, that I completely understand what she says now? Like, now her little anecdotes make sense. Hm. Anyway, I enjoyed that. Very nice.
Jose's solo - Whatevs, I'm over you. When my cousin Jadon was 2 he proceeded to do many of those same moves in my living room. Hahaha I'm so biased, I don't understand b-boying, I'm sure it takes a lot but like I said before, Legacy and Dom brought so much more.
Adechike & Courtney - Let's hope this jazz is better than his first with Courtney. That was an impressive jump there in the beginning. My eye kept being drawn to Courtney in this dance...that's no good. Adechike was DOING it but not grabbing my attention, jew know? It felt very West Side Story, meeting up with Maria late at night in a club. I liked the music, too. Blah blah blah okay whatevs it's was nice. Loved that Nigel said "just enjoy it and dance, let it go". That's my current life motto. :)
Lauren's solo - Haha Kent is so in love with her. I always like the music she uses. However, I feel odd when she wears these negligee's. Nice solo...Jeanine will always be the best soloist though. :)
Jose & Comfort - I'm hoping that he can hold his own and prove himself in this hip hop. If he can't pull this off, it's time to pull him off. Wait...I am LIKING this. It's small, subtle movements and they are hitting it perfectly. Again, I feel like I'm in a little barrio in Harlem. I liked that a lot. Jose's best of the season. OH YES he's going to address the reason why Jose hasn't been in the group routines. Groin injury. Hoooo hum. Judges not loving it. I did. Oh but wait, I see what Adam means. I wasn't supposed to feel like we were in a barrio. It was supposed to be in a club. And that wasn't clubbish feeling. Whatevs.
Billy's solo - Resident nutjob is correct. BUT WOW this solo was everything. I am not the biggest Billy fan but this solo was great stuff. GREAT STUFF.
Kent's solo - HE IS NOT USING AN ELLIOTT YAMIN SONG (well really Donnie Hathaway but STILL). WE ARE SOULMATES. A SONG FOR YOU = EVERYTHING. Ugh. He looks good in plaid. Oh there was dancing? I'm sure that was good, too.
Lauren & Allison - I LOVE THIS. Genuine jazzy b'way. I love I love. The best dancing is this. Is it just me or is Allison showing this little bit up? Her leaps were higher, she was dancing stronger. No bueno on LoFro's part. And right as I type this Adam says she's an all-star already. NIGEL - American Idol Freudian slip. He's so coming back to Idol this season, thank God.
Robert's solo - He is HANDSOME. Like...old Hollywood movie star handsome. Gorgeous man. I love his style, both dancing and clothing wise. Basically I want to be his friendddd or maybe more but idk if he's into that. By that I mean girls. What do you think?
Billy & Ade - Oh this should be good. MAD WORLD. MAD WORLD. MAD WORLD. Wow Billy's little ticks and intricacies in the beginning were perfection. Why do I have tears in my eyes? This is amazing. Okay wtf I know I've been a Billy hater but he was IN.CRED.IBLE. in this. Perfect. THAT WAS SOOOO GOOD. And Ade is of course was brillz. Another great one from Tookey. I also appreciate Billy's obvious investment in Crest White Strips. Omg I'm sorry I am just so used to hating Billy. No. That was truly amazing.
Adechike's solo - PRETTY WINGS. They are using spectacular music this episode. THIS solo showed the strength and conviction I love from Adechike. Very nice.
Kent & Jose - But why was my precious paired with Jose? I am a fan of Spencer Liff, though. I like the story line, should be cute. Again...Jose needs to bring the swagga. Hope he doesss. It was cutesy and fun. Kent needs to be on Broadway. He's just perfect for it. And yes, that was perfectly portrayed as a time piece. Great job for the both of them. Jose impressed me. Good stuff. UGH and again, as the ballroom girl judge lady pointed out, the dance was tailored to HIDE Jose's flaws. Sorry, I'm sick of that. Tomorrow he needs to go home. The judges are kinda prepping him for doing so in their comments, as well.
Lauren & Adechike - I just love when people dance to Fever. It was made to dance to. Lauren's costume is GORGEOUS! I feel like this is a very basic Foxtrot, however I have no clue what the different technique required is in foxtrots vs rumbas vs cha chas, etc. It looked correct, at least. Haha. Like Nigel said, "yeah okay, good".
Robert & Billy - Bollywood? Hahaha oh this should be good. Hahaha this intro is funny. Ok problem I have with this...Billy is being all proper dancer, Robert is dancing with abandon. For me, Robert's style is working better in this. Oh yeah dang, I forgot about Billy's knee. I bet that was awful on his knee. I also forgot two people leave. I'm gonna say Jose & Adechike. Anywho I think that was one of the better Bollywood routines we've had so far.
Last night I had a dream that Robert and Kent were voted off. ABSOLUTELY NOT HAPPENING.
Okay, going to YouTube the Mad World piece 84 times now.
DUDE. I had a feeling Lauren was hurt! Her face looked like she was in serious pain after the foxtrot and I thought something was wrong during the jazz because her leaps weren't as high as usual and she just seemed a bit off. Yikesss.
