SYTYCD Top 8 Recap

Let's face it. I do TERRIBLY miss watching SYTYCD with my dear goofball friends in my living room every Wednesday. So I'm just going to do these little recaps every week so that when y'all read it, it will be as if we were watching it together. AWWW.

Lauren & Pasha - Lauren is one lucky little biotch this week. Getting to dance with Pasha AND Kent? Totes jeal. But yeah, I thought she did awesome. However...I sometimes get the cocky feeling from her. Yes, you're amazing, but don't act like you already know you are. K great. Take notes.

Jose & Lauren - Lauren is amazing. But we already knew this. I'm kinda with the judges and I hate it. Yeah, Jose doesn't have amazing technique, but he does have this precious innocence and light in his eyes. He's so green. It IS amazing watching him grow, and how adorable was it when he started to cry? I, like Cat, just want to SQUEEZE him! I did think that Lauren was doing most of the dancing though, so it was hard to take my eyes off of her because Jose was just kinda like her prop, and we're supposed to be FOCUSING on Jose, not the all-star. Eh, whatevs.

Kent & Comfort - Let's just say how much I love this pairing. A LOT. Freaking Kent, I was so thinking O HAY MR. JT before the judges said it. I liked the smooth style of HH on him, 'twas very nice. I also loved the subtleties in the choreo and his performance. He wasn't COOL!KENT but he was Cool Kent, ya feel me? Thought it was smooth like buttah.

Adechike & Lauren - I thought it was good. Just good. The choreo felt off of the beat or something to me. Maybe it was the song. Idk. But yeah...nothing special. I don't really feel a connection to Adechike so all I can say is meh.

Billy & Katee - Katee looked GORGEOUS! Annnnd I actually thought Billy didn't look so weird this time. Ha. But yeah...idk what the judges saw. I didn't like that routine at all. Granted Billy did dance it amazingly, but again, just meh for me. The choreographer was HOTTTT though!

Ashley & Dominic - Again, so so. LOVE THE SONG. Loved the comical moments. Loved parts, but that's all. I will say though, it's so fun getting to see the older contestants do new choreographers' work. During Dom's season, NappyTabs didn't choreo yet, so it's like the old school kids are also new contestants all over again.

Robert & Kathryn - OH HELLO THETA/FIJI SING 09! That was WEIRD! We had the Barbie boxes and errthang. Anywho, I love Robert. What makes me sick is I found out I'M OLDER THAN HIM. AND I'm older than Kathryn. They seem so much older to me. I thought that routine was really cute. I liked the movement inside the boxes. And I like Robert. He's yummy.

Adechike & assistant - Hmmm. I felt as though that little "character" the judges keep talking about that Adechike created seeped into this performance. At some points he looked like freaking Carlton doing a Bollywood routine. But at the same time, it's unfair for the judges to call him out on bringing his own character to it (and as I'm typing this Cat is saying it!) when they praised Jose for doing so in his B'wood a few weeks before. Hahaha I was seriously typing this as they said it. And Mia...I love you. But sometimes you can be a real BIOTCH. You talk about spirit and joy and all this stuff but then you bring these poor contestants down so much when you say shit like "I miss Alex so hard right now". Ugh I feel so bad for Adechike. :( OH and did you see the judges building Robert up SO MUCH will all the "why are you always in the bottom 3" talk? I love this show but those judges sure know how to play dirty mind tricks. They so want Adechike gone.

Kent & Lauren - 1) Can they date? If I can't have him, I want Lauren to. 2) WHY DOES KENT ALWAYS KISS HIS PARTNERS AT THE END? Makin' me effing JEALOUS. 3) PERFECT theme development for this pairing. LOVED ITTTTT. I mean how can you not love a T.Wall piece? Also, Kent & Lauren are my FAVORITE boy and girl so it was just the icing on the cake. And yes, Kent brought out the soul in Lauren. Did I not just say she seems cocky/like a wall is up? The beauty of Kent, I'm telling you. :) OH andddd some of that choreo brought back memories of If It Kills Me. Which is always good.

Ashley & Robert - Can THEY date? Hot couple! Ashley's dress needs to be red in this routine. Not this serene blue for a song about voodoo? Come on costuming, just hire me already. To be honest I've missed the REAL ballroom like the waltzes and quicksteps, so I enjoyed this. It reminded me of the Two Princes, too!

Jose & Billy - Billy and yo freaky ass movements/fake hairpiece, getchoself outta here! (OK stop B.Bell, you look like the creepy brother on Wedding Crashers with these eyes you're giving me.)You know he liked rolling around on the ground with Jose, bahaha. Jose needed to bring more power to this piece, but I was still impressed with his movement. However, Billy outshined him fasho.

Alex Wong...sad! :( I hope he gets to dance next week, I was really starting to like him!

Mmm overall I didn't like this particular episode as much as last week's. BUT I LOVED Travis' piece, duh.

Oh, so, speaking of dance. I FINALLY took class yesterday. I went to Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio in North Hollywood because they offer actual beginner classes, and I really just wanted a refresher course. I went to technique first, then beginner jazz. It was so fun to take a class with GUYS! I mean, there were only two, but still. Cool. BUT YIKES. I haven't danced in two years and. it. shows. It was weird, my muscle memory was there and everything, but it was just a matter of recovering the balance I used to have. Core is GONE. Ha and oh...where the frick did the height on my leaps go? Not that they were very high in the first place but I was like "did I even make it off the ground that time?" We did battements (kick height was still there...the teacher even told me I had awesome height. BAM!), wall stretch and tondues, and it made me miss Power Barre/Man in the Mirror moments with you, HannyPants. It was still SO REFRESHING to dance again. It was like...picked up right where I left off. BUT WOW I CAN'T MOVE TODAY. Yeeeeowch!

ALSO -- go here: http://www.enews.thepulseontour.com/laayntk.html

I'm 97% sure that I'm doing this. I mean, why not? You only live once. I know I'm not the best dancer in the world but I love it. It's just...fun! And all levels go to The Pulse, so it will be an experience in itself. PLUS I get to take class from TYCE, WADE ROBSON, BRIAN FRIEDMAN, DAVE SCOTT AND.....MIA MICHAELS!!!!!!!!! Really, how can I NOT go?!
